From Shatinterry on youtube:
This is a 1961 Cliff & the Shadows recording covered by Joe Junior in 1967, the solo guitar on this recording most likely done by the late Wallace Chow of the Lotus, it's so beautiful.. Joe Junior, real name, Jose Maria Rodrigues born on 22/7/1946. He was from a Portuguese family in Macau and moved to HK where he was born & grew up. Ever since 1963, when Joe Junior became one of the top winner of the New Star Talent Contest and formed his first band with The Hunters and later D'Topnotes, the singer in him, has never look back. Joe's biggest break with his new outfit 'The Zoundcrackers' was when they were spotted by a producer of Diamond Record Co. during their debut performance as the supporting act of The Searchers concert in HK in 1965. After some members changes & left Zoundcrackers,Joe formed his new band Jor Junior & The Side-Effect. Starting with his first album 'Once Upon A Time' in 1965, Joe enjoyed almost ten years of both critical and commercial success which included 'Here's A Heart', a huge success, remaining in the No.1 spot of RTHK Top of The Pop Chart for seven consecutive weeks. Joe suffered from a major set-back in the 80s & early 90s, when Canto-pop & Karaoke dominate the pop scene. Luckily Joe had a successful return with the recording of 'Memories of the Sixties' in 1996.
A great number of pop bands appeared in Hong Kong during the golden era of the British Pop Music (1964 thru 1969). Musicians of different nationalities (Chinese, British, Swedish, Portuguese, Filipinos, Indians, among others) were active in Hong Kong, normally covering versions of songs from the UK and the USA. This is my tribute to those magnificent Hongkong Pop Artists that were part of my happy teenage days.

SAYONARA (The Quests)
From MrRainbow64 (on youtube):
The year was 1967/68 when the Quests were in Hong Kong as our musical ambassadors. Sayonara was the signature song when the boys call it a night at the famed Mocambo Nite Club. Thanks for the fond memories and more...Jap, Reggie, Wee, Sam, Jimmy & Vernon.

SAD MOVIES (Kong Ling)
From Questing Bandstand:
Kong Ling is known as “Singing sweetheart of Hong Kong”. She won an inter-school competition in 1951. By 1954, she was singing in Singapore, an engagment which lasted for nine months. When she returned to H.K., her popularity only continued to grow. She was in such high demand that she was singing in three separate nightclubs every evening. In the beginning, Kong Ling was singing mostly Mandarin covers of popular English songs. She recorded her first LP in English in 1960 on Diamond label called “Hong Kong presents the Off-beat Cha Cha” (Off-beat was first popularized in Manila). In her second LP, “Theme from a Dream”, Diamond wanted the best so they got The Fabulous Echoes to back Kong Ling.
